What does the New Year represent to you?

What does NEW YEAR represent to you?

Do you create New Year’s Resolutions?

If you want the evidence, just read any newspaper in the lead up to the new year; they will trot out all the latest research and statistics for you. So, let’s just summarize it. There are lots of studies that show that over half of all New Year’s resolutions are done and dusted by the end of the first week of January, that more than eighty percent are done with by the end of January and that as few as eight percent of people make it to the end of the year.

The end of the year is almost upon you, and your thoughts are turning to what your new year’s resolution will/should/could be… chances are your New Year’s Resolution is likely to be one of the classic ones. You know the list:

  • lose weight
  • stop smoking
  • drink less
  • get organized
  • exercise daily
  • to be happy
  • to spend more time with family

Asking the questions …

Some ideas of how you can look forward and celebrate your New Year by making lists of:

  • What have you learned this year about yourself that will help you next year?
  • What would you like to improve upon next year?
  • What would you like to leave behind in the past; to let go of?
  • What would you like to have more of?
  • What would you like to give to the world around you?
  • If this were to be your final year, what gift would you like to leave?
  • What would you like to learn new this year?
  • Where would you like to travel to?
  • Who would you like to reconnect with?
  • What aspect of your health would you like to improve? (Be very specific – Eat one green food a day, Drink two more glasses of water, stop at one glass of wine, get to bed before midnight at least three times a week, etc.)
  • What are you excited about for the New Year?
  • What would you like to create for yourself next year?
  • What would you like to create in your business or in your work?
  • What are you willing to invest in your well being, along with your Soul’s advancement and healing?
  • How will you take care of your body, mind, and spirit?
  • What brings you ‘Joy’ and start incorporating those things in your life regularly without hesitation or question.

Set your intentions in writing, a vision board, a journal

Writing it down cements it. Start your sentences with “I AM…” rather than, I should, I will, I’m going to… the “I AM” statement brings it into the moment where you can feel what that new thing is going to feel like. Once you grasp the feeling in your body – the likelihood of you doing the task is much higher.

Don’t underestimate the power of writing it down and creating pictures to represent.
